A factional leader of Nigeria’s Labour Party, Abayomi Arabambi, has announced that the party plans to expel its 2023 presidential candidate, Peter Obi, and the Governor of Abia State, Alex Otti, along with other suspended members.
Arabambi, who is the factional Publicity Secretary, made this statement during an interview on TVC.
He accused Obi and Otti of causing trouble within the party and said they were only pursuing their own interests.
Arabambi also insisted that Julius Abure remains the rightful National Chairman of the Labour Party, despite claims from rival factions.
He explained that peace could only be restored in the party through a national convention, which will soon take place and result in the formal expulsion of Obi, Otti, and others.
Recently, the Labour Party suspended Governor Otti, Senator Ireti Kingibe, and four other politicians for alleged anti-party activities.
The party’s National Secretary, Umar Farouk Ibrahim, confirmed their suspension, stating that they will no longer represent or act on behalf of the Labour Party.
