Akwa-Ibom commissioner refuses to join APC, tenders resignation

The Commissioner for Special Duties and Ibom Deep Sea Port in Akwa Ibom State, Dr. Ini Ememobong, has stepped down from his position.

His resignation comes after Governor Umo Eno defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Before his official defection, the governor instructed his appointees who did not wish to follow him into the APC to step down.

Dr. Ememobong responded by submitting his resignation through an official letter that has been widely circulated.

He stated that he could not join the APC based on his personal beliefs, and therefore had to resign from his position.

He thanked both Governor Eno and former Governor Udom Emmanuel for giving him the chance to serve the state in different capacities.

He also explained his choice through a social media post, saying he was guided by his political values and could not join a platform he has long opposed.

If Nigeria still have people like this commissioner, then all hope is not lost. Trust the process.

Thank you Commrade and Honorable Commissioner. You will be remembered as one of the heroes of democracy and worthy of recognition as a real Honorable man. Many of them are into stomach infrastructure and can’t afford to loose their position in place of their integrity
