Tinubu issues directive to new APC chairman

The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, has disclosed that President Bola Tinubu directed him to work hand in hand with former party chairman, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, to ensure the ruling party remains strong ahead of the 2027 elections.

Yilwatda made this known in Abuja on Wednesday while hosting Ganduje, who visited him to condole over the death of his mother, Madam Lydia Yilwatda.

He said the president encouraged him to tap from Ganduje’s wide political experience and maintain close collaboration with him in building the party.

The APC chairman described himself as a coordinator whose duty is to bring members together, stressing that the party belongs to everyone.

He acknowledged that Ganduje’s long years in politics, dating back to the era of the defunct NPN, placed him in a position to guide him in his leadership role.

He assured the former Kano State governor that his office would remain open for partnership, stressing that their cooperation would play a key role in strengthening the APC for future contests.

On his part, Ganduje said his relationship with Yilwatda should serve as an example of harmony between a predecessor and a successor, adding that such unity was important for the stability of democracy in Nigeria.

He congratulated Yilwatda on his appointment and pledged continued support for the party’s growth.
