Oyo State Governor and Allied Peoples Movement (APM) presidential candidate, Seyi Makinde, has declared Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed will emerge as Nigeria’s next Senate President after his party wins the 2027 elections.
Makinde made the declarations during the APM South-West town hall meeting held in Akure, the Ondo State capital.
He expressed confidence in his party’s chances in the next general election, saying the APM would secure victory with its proposed agenda for the country.Access Services
He also described Bala Mohammed, whom he referred to as his national leader, as the incoming Senate President.
Makinde made the statement while reacting to the introduction of Mohammed at the event, where the Bauchi governor was described as an incoming senator.
According to Makinde, the description did not fully capture what he believed lay ahead for the governor, as he went on to present him as the person who would lead the Senate after the 2027 elections.
The APM presidential candidate maintained that his party was offering Nigerians a reset agenda and expressed confidence that voters would support its political platform.Follow Politics
He also urged Nigerians to pay attention to the qualities of candidates seeking elective offices ahead of the next general election.
Makinde said age would not be his primary consideration when assessing presidential candidates, adding that he would instead focus on their energy and ability to handle the country’s challenges.
He argued that leading Nigeria required stamina and the ability to work long hours to address the country’s problems.
The APM candidate consequently challenged presidential aspirants to demonstrate their capacity to cope with the demands of the office.
