Adamawa LG Chairman Dies Three Months After Taking Office
The chairman of Fufore Local Government Area of Adamawa State, Yahya Saidu, has died in a hospital in Kaduna, less than three months after he was sworn into office.
Saidu’s death was announced by the Adamawa State chapter of the Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON), which expressed sadness over the loss in a statement released on Saturday.
The state chairman of ALGON, Titus Obadiah, said Saidu’s death was a painful loss to his family, the people of Fufore and Adamawa State.
Obadiah described the late council chairman as a committed leader who worked to serve his people. He said Saidu’s contributions to the development of Fufore Local Government Area and the state would be missed.
The ALGON chairman also extended his condolences to Saidu’s family, friends, associates and residents of the local government area over the death of their leader.
He prayed that God would give the bereaved family and the people of Fufore the strength and comfort needed to cope with the loss.
Saidu assumed office as the executive chairman of Fufore Local Government Area on July 15, 2026, after emerging as the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
His death comes less than three months after his inauguration, cutting short his time in office.
The development also comes after the death of his predecessor, Shuaibu Babas, who died while serving as Fufore council chairman on April 23, 2025.
Saidu’s passing marks another loss for the local government, following the death of Babas while in office last year.
