Brother of Tinubu’s minister killed
Suspected bandits have reportedly killed the Village Head of Galla in Borgu Emirate, Niger State, who was a sibling of Tinubu’s Minister of State for Agriculture and Food Security, Aliyu Sabi Abdullahi.
The traditional ruler was reportedly attacked and killed at his palace on Monday, August 24, 2026, after allegedly warning suspected bandits to stay away from his community.
Sources said the monarch had previously cautioned the armed men against entering the community or carrying out criminal activities there.
His warning was allegedly taken as an insult by the bandits, who later stormed his palace.
The attackers reportedly killed the monarch during the incident, causing fear and concern among residents of the community.
The deceased was identified as a sibling of Aliyu Sabi Abdullahi, who serves as the Minister of State for Agriculture and Food Security in President Bola Tinubu’s administration.
The reported killing has raised fresh concerns about the security situation in Borgu Emirate, an area that has experienced attacks by bandits and other criminal groups.
The Niger State Police Command has not yet released an official statement confirming the killing or providing details about the circumstances surrounding the attack.
The command’s spokesperson, SP Wasiu Abiodun, reportedly said he would provide information on the incident after making further checks.
However, no official update had been issued at the time of filing the report.
