Cubana Chief Priest Pleads not guilty to Naira Abuse as Court Grants N10M Bail

Popular influencer and celebrity barman Pascal Okechukwu aka Cubana Chief Priest has been granted N10M bail after he plead not guilty to naira abuse.

He entered a plea of not guilty in response to the three charges brought against him by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC). The socialite faced arraignment at the Federal High Court in Lagos, presided over by Justice Kehinde Ogundare, on Wednesday.

The charges, filed by the anti-graft commission, accuse Cubana Chief Priest of mishandling the naira at a social gathering, an action deemed in violation of the Central Bank Act of 2007.

Despite his plea of innocence, the court granted him bail set at ₦10 million, requiring two reputable sureties employed by the federal or state government at no less than grade level 16, who also possess verifiable landed property documents.

Additionally, Cubana Chief Priest was ordered to surrender his travel passport to the court’s custody.

The bail conditions must be fulfilled within seven days, during which he was released into the custody of his lawyer, who undertook the responsibility to ensure his client’s appearance. Failure to comply could result in his remand in a correctional facility.

The barman has however reacted with an Instagram post following the ruling.
