Customs Intercepts Smuggling of Military Uniforms, Weapon in Lagos

The Nigerian Customs Service has intercepted a consignment of military uniforms, ammunition being smuggled into Nigeria through a Lagos port.


The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Tin-Can Island Command, has seized a number of military gear including uniforms, arms and ammunition in Lagos state.

According to Channels TV, other recovered items included illicit drugs at the Lagos port.

The consignment is expected to have come into the country through the port by smugglers seeking to connect with recipients in Nigeria

The arms recovered were automatic single-barrel rifles and pump action guns and were discovered during an inspection of imported consignments.

It is unclear at this time if any arrests have been made made. This comes on the heels of a scandal rocking the Nigeria Customs Service following an investigative report by journalist Fisayo Soyombo, alleging the service’s complicity in smuggling.
