Drama in Abuja as Police Officer Steals Sowore’s Glasses During Protest

There was drama at the Force Headquarters in Abuja on Monday after former presidential candidate Omoyele Sowore alleged that a police officer took his glasses during a protest, Dockaysworld reports.

Sowore, who contested the presidency in 2019 and 2023 under the African Action Congress (AAC), said the officer, dressed in plain clothes, took his Ray-Ban glasses while he was supporting retired police officers protesting for better welfare.

This Nigeria Police Force officer, dressed in mufti, stole my Al Rayban glasses at the Force Headquarters during #PoliceProtest today. His superiors are shielding him. Please DM if you know his name and rank as soon as possible!” he posted on Instagram.

Retired police officers led the protest to demand their removal from the contributory pension scheme, which they described as unfair. According to the protesters, many of their colleagues died without getting their full pension benefits.
