Police operatives have reportedly arrested the father of Prince Adeniyi Adeyemi, the central figure in the alleged fake Presidential Fiscal and Infrastructure Projects Council (PFIPC) scandal, during a raid on the family’s residence in Ogbomoso.
According to The Punch, the development was confirmed by Femi Falana, who questioned the legality of the arrest.
“Police have now stormed the house of the parents of Prince Adeyemi Adeniyi, Plot 3, Adeniyi Dynasty, behind Technical College, Road Safety Area, Ogbomoso. The father has been arrested. There is no legal basis for substituted arrests. The young man has promised to show up in court, so why arrest his father?” Falana said.
A neighbour alleged that officers arrived in four vehicles, harassed members of the household and took Adeniyi’s father away before residents could intervene.
“They came with four vehicles, and they started harassing them and eventually took the father away. They didn’t allow the neighbours to intervene before they took him away. At the moment, there is a man in blue clothes patrolling the area,” the source said.
Another eyewitness claimed Adeniyi’s father was arrested alongside a family friend who had come to visit.
“Baba was taken away with someone who came to visit them this morning. They left the mother, who is currently in shock, but we have moved her away,” the witness said.
The police had not issued an official statement at the time of filing this report, and the claims could not be independently verified.
Prince Adeyemi is facing charges over alleged forgery, impersonation and related offences linked to the purported PFIPC, which authorities say was never legally constituted despite claims that it operated under the Presidency.
