FG declares public holiday to mark 2025 Eid-el-Fitr


The Federal Government has announced that Monday, March 31, and Tuesday, April 1, 2025, will be public holidays in celebration of Eid-el-Fitr.

This was revealed by the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, in a statement on Wednesday, issued by the ministry’s permanent secretary, Magdalene Ajani.

The minister congratulated Muslims on successfully completing the Ramadan fast and encouraged them to uphold values such as self-discipline, compassion, generosity, and peace.

He also spoke on the importance of love, forgiveness, and unity in fostering a harmonious society.

Tunji-Ojo urged Nigerians to use this period to pray for the nation’s peace, stability, and prosperity.

He expressed hope that the celebration would strengthen unity and cooperation across religious and ethnic groups.

He also advised citizens to celebrate safely and responsibly while extending kindness to the less privileged, in line with the true spirit of Ramadan and Eid.

On behalf of the Federal Government, the minister wished all Muslims a joyous Eid Mubarak, hoping that the season would bring happiness, success, and fulfillment to everyone.
