Hajiya Kulu, wife of former Zamfara State Deputy Governor, Senator Hassan Nasiha, has died after a brief illness.
She reportedly passed away in India a few days ago, where she had been receiving medical treatment.
Following her death, the Minister of State for Defence, Bello Matawalle, paid a condolence visit to Senator Nasiha at his residence in Gusau, Zamfara State.
Matawalle, who previously served as governor of the state, arrived through the Gusau International Airport before proceeding to the family’s home.
He was received by a large crowd of supporters and was accompanied by leaders and members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) from different parts of Zamfara State.
During the visit, Matawalle expressed his sympathy to the former deputy governor and his family over the loss.
He prayed for Allah to forgive Hajiya Kulu, grant her eternal rest, and give her family the strength to bear the loss. Special prayers were also offered for the deceased and her loved ones.
In his response, Senator Nasiha thanked the minister for the visit and appreciated him for standing by the family during the period of mourning.
He described Matawalle as someone who continues to maintain personal relationships and offer support despite political differences.
Senator Nasiha served as Zamfara State deputy governor during Matawalle’s administration and was also his running mate in the 2023 governorship election.
Among those who accompanied Matawalle were Senator Sahabi Ya’u, who represents Zamfara North; the Director-General of the Nigerian Agricultural Insurance Corporation, Yazeed Shehu Danfulani; the Federal Commissioner of the National Population Commission, Nasiru Mu’azu Magarya; Zamfara APC Secretary, Ibrahim Maigandi Danmaliki; the party’s State Auditor, Yusuf Idris; and other APC leaders and dignitaries.
