Former Inspector General Of Police Dumps APC
Former Inspector-General of Police, Suleiman Abba, has left the All Progressives Congress (APC) and joined the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Jigawa State as he prepares to contest for the Jigawa South-West Senatorial seat ahead of the 2027 general election.
Abba announced his decision on Saturday during a political rally held in Bamaina, the hometown of former Jigawa State Governor, Sule Lamido.
He was welcomed into the PDP by party leaders, supporters and other members who attended the gathering.
The former police chief said he decided to leave the APC because he believes the PDP offers him the right platform to seek election and represent the people of Jigawa South-West in the Senate.
He said his interest in the Senate is driven by a desire to work for the people of the district, especially in the areas of security, agriculture and youth employment.
According to him, if elected, he intends to speak for farmers, young people and women while pushing for policies that will improve their lives.
Abba also said the large number of people who attended the rally showed that many residents were looking for a different political direction.
He expressed confidence that the support received would strengthen his campaign ahead of the election.
