Former Minister of Environment, Barrister Mohammed Hassan Abdullahi, has officially resigned from the All Progressives Congress (APC) as preparations for the 2027 general elections begin to take shape.
Abdullahi, who served in President Muhammadu Buhari’s cabinet, submitted his resignation letter on June 1 to the APC chairman in his Uke ward, Karu Local Government Area of Nasarawa State.
He also copied the letter to other party leaders, citing personal reasons for his decision to leave.
A close associate, Mr. Samuel Akala, confirmed the resignation to journalists in Lafia, hinting that Abdullahi might soon join another political party and could run for governor of Nasarawa State in the upcoming elections.
In his resignation letter, Abdullahi thanked the APC for the support and opportunities he received during his time with the party and wished them well going forward.
Abdullahi is a prominent political figure in Nasarawa, having previously served as Secretary to the State Government under former Governor Tanko Almakura.
His exit has stirred unease within the APC in the state, given his strong influence and loyal following.
