How Tinubu abandoned us – Nigerian Embassy Staff

Nigerian foreign mission employees in Europe accuse the President Bola Tinubu-led government of subjecting them to penury with over 5 months of unpaid salaries.

Employees reveal resorting to begging for basic needs due to financial hardship.

“We now seek help from friends and families in Nigeria for feeding as the embassies are currently owning us salaries,” one employee told SaharaReporters.

Another added they can’t meet financial obligations like rent, utilities, and sanitation bills.

In Vienna, salaries haven’t been received since October 2023, leading to health insurance issues and financial struggles.

Poor administrative practices have worsened the embassy’s financial situation, resulting in frozen accounts and potential delays in salary payments.

Owing embassy staff salaries may fuel corruption and degrade service quality, as seen in other Nigerian embassies. The affected employees call for public attention and urge the president to intervene.
