Eccentric Nigerian singer Olawale Ashimi aka Brymo, has revealed that he once declined a request for a feature by female colleague Simi because she wasn’t open to having sex with him.

Brymo made this known unprompted after jumping on a tweet asking Simi’s husband Adekunle Gold why he hadn’t featured him on his forthcoming album.

Brymo explained that he’d turned the couple down when they’d come to him separately for features, claiming that he didn’t know they were together when he’d propositioned Simi for sex.

The singer said in his defense that he didn’t want sex as payment but was rather simply finding the experience of collaborating with a woman he was being intimate with.

He wrote:

though AG reached out later, I like to think that he didn’t check in again, by will or fate because I turned down same request many years before…I also did same with Simi… said I wanted to get intimate to create intensity..
I didn’t know they were together of course
There’s a part of me that wants to feel remorse for my requirement for a collaboration with the talented Simi.. yet I am reminded that I was indeed, and honestly seeking to experience the outcome of making music with a female act I was bedding.. I proposed same to Efya too then..
