INEC Proclaims PDP’s Diri Winner of Bayelsa Election

INEC has announced PDP's Douye Diri as winner of the November 11, 2023 governorship election in Bayelsa state after polling 175,196 votes

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), has proclaimed the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate, Senator Douye Diri as winner of the state’s governorship election.

The result was declared by the State Governorship Returning Officer and Vice Chancellor of the Federal University, Lafia, Prof. Faruq Kuta, a while ago with Diri scoring 175,196 votes to confirm his re-election as the governor of Bayelsa state.

Diri was proclaimed winner after defeating fifteen other candidates including his main opponent, Timipre Sylva of the All Progressives Congress (APC), who came second after winning in two local government areas and scoring a total of 110,108 votes.

The candidate of the Labour Party (LP), Mr. Udengs came in third with 905 votes.
