Three lawmakers from the Labour Party (LP) two members of the House of Representatives and one from the Enugu State House of Assembly have defected to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), citing Governor Peter Mbah’s leadership and development projects as their main reason.
The lawmakers are Rt. Hon. Dennis Agbo (Igboeze North/Udenu), Hon. Chidi Obetta (Nsukka/Igboeze South), and Hon. Malachy Onyechi (Nsukka West).
At the Enugu State PDP Secretariat, they were officially welcomed by the party’s state chairman, Dr. Martin Chukwunwike. Agbo said their defection marks the end of LP’s influence in the Enugu North Senatorial District, praising Mbah’s leadership as transformative.
Obetta added that Mbah’s achievements in education, healthcare, security, and infrastructure encouraged them to return and support his re-election in 2027.
Dr. Chukwunwike said their return strengthens the PDP’s position and expressed optimism for victory in the next election.
