Many crushed to death by BRT in Lagos


A tragic incident has reportedly killed a five-year-old boy identified as Maliki by an unregistered Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) in Palmgroove, Lagos, on Saturday around 1:30 pm.

The BRT bus, driven by Sunday Bukola, struck Maliki, his mother Rofiat, and sibling Basit while they were crossing the BRT lane.

Unfortunately, Maliki died on the spot, and his mother and brother are currently receiving treatment for injuries.

The hit-and-run driver, Sunday Bukola, fled the scene but was later arrested and is in police custody.

Meanwhile, in a separate incident on Sunday at Doyin Bus stop along Orile Mile 2 Expressway, a ten-year-old boy named Chukwudi was killed by a Nissan Coastal Commercial Bus.

Chukwudi and his father Bernard were on their way to church when the accident occurred around 7:30 am.

Chukwudi died instantly, and Bernard reported the incident, stating that the high-speed commercial bus smashed his son’s skull.

The police confirmed the incident, mentioning that miscreants attacked officers during the corpse evacuation but were repelled.

The deceased’s body has been taken to Yaba General Hospital, and the driver is in police custody as investigations continue.
