The Nigeria Police Force says officials from its National Cybercrime Centre (NPF-NCCC) have arrested Bristol Isaac Tamunobiefiri, popularly known on X (formerly Twitter) as PIDOM Nigeria, an anonymous whistleblower.
A statement issued by the Force Spokesman, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi on Saturday seen by Dockaysworld, revealed that PIDOM was arrested on August 5, 2024, in his hotel room Rivers State.
According to ACP Adejobi, the suspect was apprehended on allegations of committing serious offenses that undermine the integrity of government operations.
He said there are several allegations levelled against the suspect, including unlawful possession, leakages of classified documents, cyber related offences, and others.
The Force spokesman added that the police will do due diligence in carrying out thorough investigation into the cases.
“The force will leave no stone unturned to continually enforce the law and bequeath to Nigerians a more secure nation,” he further noted.
Recall that concerns grew across social media on Friday about the disappearance of PIDOM Nigeria, who was reported missing by a fellow investigative journalist, David Hundeyin.
Hundeyin suspected foul play and shared his concerns on PIDOM’s X.com account, alleging that PIDOM’s disappearance is connected to Nigerian authorities.
