A senior staff member of the Federal Medical Centre, Idi-Aba, Abeokuta, Ogun State, Oluwaseun Adeniji, tragically ended his life on Sunday evening by jumping into a well in the Obantoko area of Abeokuta.
Adeniji, who worked in the hospital’s Audit Department, reportedly took this fatal step shortly after dinner.
Although the exact reason for his decision remains unclear, a source revealed that the deceased had been battling mental health issues and had previously sought treatment.
Confirming the incident, the hospital’s Head of Public Relations, Dr Segun Orisajo, described Adeniji’s passing as a “painful loss” that shocked the hospital community.
Dr Orisajo said:
“The sudden death of Mr Adeniji Oluwaseun under questionable circumstances is a painful loss to the Federal Medical Centre, Idi-Aba. He was a dedicated, loyal, and hardworking staff member. This tragic news has deeply shaken us, especially as he was actively present at work throughout the past week.”
The Medical Director, Prof Adewale Musa-Olomu, extended heartfelt condolences to Adeniji’s family and colleagues, praying for divine comfort during this difficult time.
As of press time, the Ogun State Police Command’s spokesperson, CSP Omolola Odutola, had not responded to inquiries regarding the incident.
