Armed men in the early hours of Sunday, attacked the Lubo community in Yamaltu/Deba Local Government Area of Gombe State, killing Reverend Bala Galadima, a pastor of the Evangelical Church Winning All (ECWA).
The police confirmed the incident, stating that the attackers broke into the pastor’s house during a robbery.
According to the Gombe State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Buhari Abdullahi, the pastor was shot in the back, possibly while trying to escape.
Witnesses said the gunmen first targeted the ECWA Church before moving to a nearby residence, where they stole money.
They did not appear to be searching for the pastor specifically but shot him when he looked outside after hearing noises.
Following the attack, Gombe State Commissioner of Police, Bello Yahaya, visited the hospital where the pastor’s body was taken.
A special police squad has been deployed to restore calm and track down those responsible.
Authorities assured residents that the suspects would be arrested and prosecuted.
