The Olu of Epe Kingdom, Oba Shefiu Olatunji Adewale is dead.
He died in the early hours of Saturday, May 31, 2025.
The 86-year-old monarch passed away quietly and will be laid to rest later today according to Islamic rites.
Oba Adewale was the 19th traditional ruler of the Epe Kingdom.
Before he became king, he held respected positions in the chieftaincy system.
He was first the Otun-Balogun, then later promoted to Balogun before eventually being crowned the Olu of Epe.
During his lifetime, he was not only a respected leader in the traditional institution but also served the public in various roles.
He worked with the Ministry of Education, where he retired as a Director of Administration.
He also served as Executive Secretary at the Ministry of Lands, showing his involvement in public service beyond the palace.
His passing was confirmed by High Chief Musiliu Adeniyi, who shared that the burial would take place today by 4pm.
Residents of Epe and others close to the kingdom are mourning the loss of their monarch, who spent years serving his people both in traditional and government roles.
