PDP Merges With APM Ahead Of 2027
A faction of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, led by Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde, has entered into a political alliance with the Allied Peoples’ Movement, APM, as preparations for the 2027 general elections gather pace.
Seyi Makinde has also declared his intention to contest presidency in 2027.
The agreement between both opposition parties was sealed on Thursday in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital, during the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding aimed at strengthening cooperation ahead of the next presidential election.
The event took place at the PDP South-West Secretariat and attracted party leaders, supporters, political stakeholders and governorship hopefuls from both parties.
The gathering also came amid ongoing discussions among opposition figures seeking ways to build a stronger political front against the ruling All Progressives Congress ahead of 2027.
Seyi Bamidele signed the agreement for the PDP, while Oladele Oyadeji represented the APM during the ceremony.
Governor Makinde also signed the document on behalf of the PDP faction, while APM National Chairman Yusuf Dantalle signed for his party.
