American businessman and rapper, Kanye West, has been thrown out of the Forbes billionaires list after German athletic wear giant, Adidas, cut ties with the rapper’s Yeezy brand following his recent series of antisemitic comments.
Recall that Ye came under fire recently after a series of hateful speech againt jewish people saw him locked out of his Instagram and Twitter accounts.
Ye was also criticized by his ex-wife, Kim Kardashian who stated that hate speech in any form is not condoned
The rapper was worth an estimated $2 billion with over $1.5 billion coming from his partnership with adidas.
With Adidas gone, Ye is now worth an estimated $400 million, with the rest of his fortune coming from real estate, cash, his music catalog and a 5% stake in his ex-wife Kim Kardashian’s fashion brand Skims, according to Forbes.
A press released by Adidas on October 25th read;
“Adidas does not tolerate antisemitism and any other sort of hate speech. Ye’s recent comments and actions have been unacceptable, hateful and dangerous, and they violate the company’s values of diversity and inclusion, mutual respect and fairness”
“After a thorough review, the company has taken the decision to terminate the partnership with Ye immediately, end production of Yeezy branded products and stop all payments to Ye and his companies. Adidas will stop the Adidas Yeezy business with immediate effect.”
With this development, Fenty Beauty founder, Rihana who was second to Ye in the richest musician list with an estimated net worth of $1.4 billion, now takes the number one spot, ultimately making her both the richest female musician and the richest musician in the world as of 2022.
