Popular Nigerian artists Olamide and Asake have received their first-ever Grammy nominations for their collaboration ‘Amapiano‘ in the category of Best African Music Performance, making them the first African rapper and first Nigerian artist to be nominated in the category, respectively.
Olamide received the nomination for his collaboration with Asake on the song ‘Amapiano’ while Asake, who has only been in the industry for two years, got the nomination for his solo song ‘Sungba‘.
The nominations are a huge feat for both artists and proof of their hard work and commitment. They are also an indication that African music is gaining global recognition.
