Tems becomes first female Nigerian to win Grammy [See full list]

Nigerian singer, Temilade Openiyi, popularly known as Tems, has broken a record as she became the first female Nigerian musician to to win a Grammy award at the 65th edition of the awards.

The singer, who bagged 3 nominations finally clinched the award for the ‘Best Melodic Rap Performance’ category for her vocal and writing contribution on ‘Wait For U’ by Future featuring Drake.

Damini Ogulu aka Burna Boy however struck out as others won in the two categories he was nominated for. The categories included “Best Global Album” and “Best Global Performance”.
