The National chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Uche Secondus has stated that there may not be elections in 2023 when the second tenure of President Buhari ends.

Secondus made this known at the PDP caucus meeting in Abuja. He gave his reason for the statement as the manner the current Government rule the nation.

He said that it was similar to military rule where elections were not needed. He claimed the winners would be announced unopposed as democracy wouldn’t be allowed to reign.

He also allayed his fears that the forthcoming state elections might be marred by the same dictatorship where winners would be announced without care to the people’s choice.

He however called on the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, to ensure free and fair elections this Saturday.

He said;

“On February 23, 2019, how will history judge you (Buhari)? How will the next generation judge you? In fact, there may not be election in 2023, it may just be an announcement because if you have the military on your side, you do not need the people, you do not need to campaign. All you need to do is to put the figure on election day and announce. Is that what is going to happen again on March 9?”
