President Bola Tinubu has appointed former Zamfara State Governor, Senator Abdulaziz Yari, as the Director-General of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council ahead of the January 2027 elections.
Yari’s appointment was contained in the list of members of the APC Presidential Campaign Council released on Saturday, August 22, 2026.
President Tinubu will serve as chairman of the council, while Vice President Kashim Shettima will be the vice chairman.
APC National Chairman, Professor Nentawe Yilwatda, has also been appointed as a vice chairman.
Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodimma, will serve as secretary of the campaign council. APC National Secretary, Senator Ajibola Bashiru, will serve as deputy secretary, while Hadiza Bala-Usman will be the assistant secretary.
The campaign council will include several senior party leaders and political figures who will advise the President as the APC begins preparations for the 2027 presidential election.
Among those appointed as advisers are Chief Bisi Akande, Chief Segun Osoba, Senator Rochas Okorocha, Senator Abdullahi Adamu and Senator Florence Ita Giwa.
Senate President Godswill Akpabio, House of Representatives Speaker Tajudeen Abbas and Yobe State Governor Mai Mala Buni have been appointed deputy directors-general for the campaign across the southern and northern parts of the country.
Senator Bamidele Opeyemi and Senator Jibril Barau will also work with the leaders responsible for coordinating the campaign across the two regions.
Senator Adams Oshiomhole has been appointed deputy director-general in charge of mobilisation, while the President’s Chief of Staff will oversee administration in another deputy director-general position.
James Abiodun Faleke will return to a major role in the APC’s campaign structure as deputy director-general for election planning, coordination and monitoring.
Faleke will work with directors assigned to the six geopolitical zones. Senator Olushola Adeyeye will oversee the South West, Dr Ngozi Olejeme will handle the South South, and Senator Uche Ekwunife will coordinate the South East.
Muntaqha Rabe will oversee the North West, Ahmed Muhammed Ketso will be responsible for the North Central, while Senator Sani Danladi will coordinate the North East.
Ms Stella Okotete, Engineer Abdullahi Garba Ramat and Audu Maikori have been appointed secretaries under the election planning directorate.
The legal directorate will be headed by Muiz Adeyemi Banire as director. Dr Liman Hassan and Babatunde Ogala will serve as deputies, while Prince Lateef Fagbemi, former Katsina State Governor Ibrahim Shema, Worgu Boms and Dr Kingsley Tochukwu Udeh are also members of the team.
Minister of Information and National Orientation Mohammed Idris Malagi will coordinate media and strategic communication for the campaign.
Dele Alake, Bayo Onanuga and Lanre Issa-Onilu will work with him, while Tunde Rahman, Sunday Dare, Daniel Bwala and Felix Morka will serve as coordinating deputy directors in the media directorate.
Abdulaziz AbdulAziz, Temitope Ajayi, Arabinrin Aderonke and Frederick Nwabufor have been appointed coordinating secretaries for the media team.
Segun Dada will return as Director of New Media, a position he held during the 2022/2023 campaign. Solomon Arowolo has been named Secretary of New Media.
The APC has also appointed five spokespersons for the campaign, with Dele Alake leading the team. Alwan Hassan, Ayobami Oyalowo, Kemi Asekun-Shittu and Adamu Fanda will serve as the other spokespersons.
