  • The FBI had revealed that by October ending, Tinubu's files will be made public.

President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has reportedly taken legal steps to prevent the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA), and other U.S. agencies from disclosing approximately 2,500 documents related to him.

These documents are set to be released by the FBI, commencing in October.

According to People’s Gazette, President Tinubu’s legal team in the United States filed motions to participate in an ongoing Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) lawsuit against U.S. organizations.

The aim is to gain access to records that may shed light on questions about the president’s true identity and his decades-long endeavors.

One of Tinubu’s legal representatives, Christopher Carmichael, submitted a motion dated October 18, 2023, seeking admission to the FOIA lawsuit taking place in Washington D.C. Bryan A. Carey, representing Carmichael, stated, “Pursuant to Civil Local Rule 83.2(c), Bryan A. Carey moves for the admission and appearance of attorney Christopher Carmichael pro hac vice in the above-entitled action.”

However, Carmichael did not provide a comment in response to queries, and President Tinubu’s lead lawyer in the United States, Oluwole Afolabi, refrained from commenting until the matter officially commences.

The legal team is preparing to submit a comprehensive argument promptly in order to present their case before the impending October 31 deadline.

This legal maneuver comes in the wake of President Tinubu’s recent loss in a bid to prevent the release of his academic records to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, by a federal court in Chicago.
