President Bola Tinubu on Monday swore in Joseph Olasunkanmi Tegbe as the new Minister of Power and Ambassador Sola Enikanolaiye as Minister of State for Foreign Affairs.
The ceremony took place at the Presidential Villa in Abuja and was attended by the ministers’ spouses and senior government officials.
The appointments followed the resignations of former Minister of Power, Chief Adebayo Adelabu, and former Minister of Foreign Affairs, Yusuf Tuggar, who left the cabinet to pursue political ambitions. Both nominees were cleared by the Senate on May 6, 2026.
Tegbe, an indigene of Oyo State, is an economist and reform strategist with more than 35 years of experience across the public and private sectors. He previously served as Senior Partner and Head of Advisory Services at KPMG Africa and has worked with several government agencies and multinational firms.
Enikanolaiye, a career diplomat from Kogi State, served in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for 35 years and retired as Permanent Secretary in 2017. He held diplomatic postings in Ethiopia, Serbia, Canada, the United Kingdom and India.
Before his appointment, Enikanolaiye was Senior Special Assistant to the President on Foreign Affairs and International Relations in the Office of the Chief of Staff.
