Police Inspector Slumps, Dies After Watching Football Match


A Police Inspector, Stephen Enang, tragically collapsed and died on Tuesday evening in Calabar after watching Arsenal’s 3-0 victory over Real Madrid.

Enang, from Ekori in Cross River State, was stationed at the Akim Police Division.

He had been at a viewing centre on Abang-Asang Street, where he cheered excitedly for Arsenal as they scored three goals.

After the match, while others were leaving, Enang remained seated and was found unresponsive.

He was rushed to the Police Hospital but was confirmed dead despite efforts to revive him.

His death shocked friends and colleagues, as he was known for his love of football, especially his passion for Arsenal.

Efforts to get an official statement from the Cross River State Police were unsuccessful.
