Just in: Tribunal dismisses Atiku’s petition, validates Buhari’s victory

The tribunal set up for the 2019 presidential election has dismissed Atiku’s petition challenging the victory of President Muhammadu Buhari. 

The five-man panel led by Justice Muhammad Garba ruled on several petitions relating to the presidential election

At its sitting on Wednesday, the tribunal said the petition filed by Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) lacked merit.

The tribunal also dismissed the PDP’s claims on central server, electronic transmission of results and also INEC’s petition to disqualify Atiku’s lead counsel.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) had declared Buhari who represented the All Progressives Congress (APC) as winner of the election ,after polling 15,191, 847 votes while the PDP candidate garnered 11, 262, 978 votes.

His victory is once again validated by the ruling of the tribunal.
