Conversation between kidnapper and family of man abducted on Afuze–Benin route leaks online

A leaked phone conversation between kidnappers and the family of a man abducted along the Afuze–Benin road has raised concerns over increased frequency of abductions, particularly in Edo state.

The victim reportedly identified as Felix Ighogho, was kidnapped on October 25, 2025, around 3 p.m., near the NIFOR area close to the Aso-Rock Police Checkpoint on the Benin–Sobe–Akure road while travelling from Afuze to Benin City.

In the leaked audio, the kidnappers could be heard demanding a ₦20 million ransom for his release.

Meanwhile, at least 9 other passengers were also kidnapped by gunmen along the same Benin–Sobe–Akure Road in what appears to be a coordinated attack.

The armed men reportedly blocked the highway, forcing travellers out of a commercial vehicle before leading them into the forest.

Witnesses said the gunmen operated for several minutes without any resistance, releasing only the driver and two breastfeeding mothers.

Dockaysworld learnt that the kidnappers initially demanded ₦20 million from each family but later reduced the ransom to ₦10 million after negotiations.

The victims are still believed to be in captivity as efforts continue to secure their release.

This comes off the cusp of the release of Aisha Wahab who was kidnapped two weeks earlier at Igbira Camp in Auchi.
