Former APC Senator Dies In Abuja
Former Katsina South Senator, Bello Mandiya, has died at the age of 62 in Abuja.
Mandiya who was elected under the All Progressives Congress (APC) reportedly died on Monday, September 7, 2026 and was buried on Tuesday.
The Katsina State Government confirmed his death. The cause of his death had not been made public as of the time of the report.
Mandiya was a former member of the National Assembly who represented Katsina South Senatorial District under the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
He was elected in 2019 and served throughout the ninth National Assembly, which ended in 2023.
Before becoming a senator, Mandiya had served as chief of staff to former Katsina State Governor Aminu Masari.
Following news of his death, Katsina State Governor Dikko Radda expressed sadness over the passing of the former lawmaker.
The governor described Mandiya’s death as a loss to Katsina State and the country.
Radda also recalled Mandiya’s years in public service and his work as a representative of the people.
He said the former senator had spent part of his life serving the state and the nation.
The governor extended his condolences to Mandiya’s immediate family, former Governor Masari, residents of Katsina South, political associates and former colleagues who worked with him at the National Assembly.
He also prayed for the repose of the former senator’s soul and asked God to give his family the strength to cope with his death.
