Man, 50, arrested for smuggling day old baby with a zipped hand bag

Samson J. Enwereiji, a 50 year old man has been arrested for smuggling a day old baby with a zipped handbag in Ohafia, Abia state.

The Nation reports that the suspect was arrested while attempting to run off with the baby by soldiers who were tipped off.

When the report came in that Enwereji was in possession of a baby at Okpu Omuobo, the army checkpoint was activated where they stopped and searched every vehicle.

Enwereji was caught in a black Toyota SUV with 2 women who managed to escape. A search of the car revealed the baby was zipped in a handbag with N84 000 inside.

N13 000 was also found on the suspect with a placenta of a baby suggesting the baby was just born.

Citizens suspected the suspect and his cohorts had killed the real mother and longed for them to apprehended swiftly.
