A member of the robbery gang who were apprehended by the police on Friday in Lagos has said that they had only intended to use the money to celebrate Christmas.

Vanguardngr reports that Police attached to Illasamaja division arrested the gang of two who usually waited for customers to withdraw money from banks at Sadiku/Illasamaja, Oshodi before robbing them.

Boniface Ewerem, 46 and Joseph, 42, had as usual, positioned themselves to rob unsuspecting bank customers when a customer withdrew  N350 000.

The duo told him to surrender the cash, shooting into the air and snatching the money. They then zoomed off on their bike but luck run out on them when police chased and caught them.

“This is my first time. I wanted to use the money I would have stolen, to celebrate Christmas. We never had any intention to kill our victims.” the younger robber confessed.
