Many Feared Dead In Violent Truck Accident In Lagos


Five people have died and several others were hurt in a major accident on Tuesday afternoon at Soka, along the Ibadan–Lagos Expressway, according to the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in Oyo State.

FRSC spokesperson Mayowa Odewo said the victims included a young boy, one adult male, and three women.

The crash involved three articulated trucks, two private cars, and two Nissan Micra taxis all heavily damaged after the collision.

One body has been released to families with police clearance, while the other four bodies are now at Adeoyo State Hospital’s mortuary.

According to an eyewitness who spoke anonymously, the crash started when a tanker reversed out of an abandoned filling station.

It was struck from behind by another articulated truck, triggering a chain-reaction pile-up involving the other five vehicles.
