Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has challenged the Nigerian government to release the forensic audit report of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC).
He said he will resign from his position if the report does not support his claims.
Wike, while speaking on a Channels Television programme, made serious allegations about past activities linked to the NDDC under former Rivers State governor and Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi.
He claimed that a company connected to Amaechi’s wife allegedly received four billion naira monthly to train women in the Niger Delta, amounting to 48 billion naira in a year.
He alleged that the forensic audit report detailing these transactions was buried by former Attorney General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami, to protect those involved.
Wike urged President Bola Tinubu to make the document public, insisting that Nigerians deserve to know the truth.
According to Wike, the suppression of the audit report raises questions about hypocrisy and deceit among political figures.
He further stated that he has nothing to hide and would not hesitate to resign as FCT Minister if the released document proves him wrong.
Wike maintained that the release of the audit would expose how public funds were allegedly mismanaged in the name of empowerment and industrial development in the Niger Delta region.
