Armed bandits have reportedly abducted the children of the brother-in-law of Gurara TV Chief Executive Officer, Comrade Ernest Thyek Maidawa, in Rimi Village, Kaduna State.
The attackers reportedly invaded the community under the cover of darkness on Sunday night before taking the children away and fleeing the area.
The incident has raised concerns over the safety of residents in vulnerable communities across Kaduna State, where attacks and kidnappings by armed criminal groups have continued.
Gurara TV appealed to security agencies and relevant authorities to treat the abduction as an emergency and deploy all necessary resources to secure the victims’ safe release.
The station also urged members of the public with credible information that could help locate the children or identify the perpetrators to report it immediately to the appropriate authorities.
The victims’ connection to the family of a media executive has also heightened concerns about the safety of journalists, media workers and their relatives in areas affected by insecurity.
Residents called on security agencies to intensify surveillance and security operations in Rimi Village and surrounding communities.
Meanwhile, efforts to reach the spokesperson for the Kaduna State Police Command, DSP Mansur Hassan, for comment were unsuccessful, as he did not answer calls or respond to a message sent to him.
Gurara TV is reportedly monitoring the situation and is expected to provide further updates as verified information becomes available.
