The Court of Appeal in Abuja, has declined the request by Labour Party Presidential candidate Peter Obi to stop the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC from reconfiguring the BVAS equipment used for Feb 25th elections.

The court in its ruling stated that stopping INEC from reconfiguring the machines could put the March 11 elections in jeopardy.

The governorship and State Houses of Assembly elections are set to hold in 3 days.

The Court agreed with INEC that information on accreditation contained in the BVAS devices had been uploaded into its back up server and could be accessed at any time.

The court judged that Obi’s team posed no challenges to INEC’s counter affidavit that the BVAS devices cannot be tampered with during uploading, hence the results on IREV could not be changed.

Recall Peter Obi had gone to court in person, putting off his trips to various states to drum up support for the governorship and state assembly candidates of his party.
