A 50-year-old trader from Edo State, Osifo Stanley, has entered the presidential race under the All Progressives Congress, declaring his intention to contest against President Bola Tinubu in 2027.
Stanley unveiled his ambition in Abuja under the campaign theme “Metamorphosis 2027,” positioning his bid around economic recovery, security, and fiscal discipline.
The ruling party had earlier endorsed Tinubu for re-election, granting him the right of first refusal, but Stanley insisted on joining the contest, describing his aspiration as rooted in integrity and a strong grasp of economic reform.
He said: “We are aware that economy encapsulates all human activities… A secured society is the foundation for sound economic structuring.”
Stanley promised a two-pronged approach focused on strengthening the economy and improving national security, noting that no sector can thrive without stability in both areas.
He also pledged to address hardship facing Nigerians, stating that his administration would “ease the current tense, fragile and torturous situation many Nigerians face.”
The aspirant outlined plans across key sectors including agriculture, mining, health, and education, while proposing reforms such as decentralizing the power sector and auditing major national assets.
On economic policy, he said his government would boost purchasing power and reduce poverty, adding: “We will deal a devastating blow to hunger with functional macro and micro undertakings.”
Stanley further promised to enhance security through dialogue and improved intelligence gathering, including the use of artificial intelligence.
“I have strong conviction the time has come for our great nation to metamorphose,” he said, urging Nigerians to support his candidacy ahead of the 2027 election.
