EFCC Recovers N39B From N44B Embezzled by Ex-NSIPA Boss

The EFCC has reportedly recovered N39.98 Billion from the N44.8 Billion allegedly embezzled by the office of the former head/CEO the NSIPA Halima Shehu, New Telegraph is reporting.


The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), has recovered about N39.8 Billion out of the N44.8 Billion allegedly siphoned by suspended NSIPA boss, Halima Shehu.

According to reports by the New Telegraph, the anti-graft agency made the recovery on the heels of investigations into corruption allegations leveled against the ministry.

Recall that Dockaysworld reported news of Halima Shehu’s suspension by President Bola Tinubu.

She is being accused of gross mismanagement of public funds to the tune of N44.8 billion, which was reportedly transferred from the ministry’s account in five days between 27th and 31st December 2023.

The money was transferred without the approval of the President, the Federal Executive Council, or the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, Dr. Betta Edu, reports say.

Halima is currently been investigated by men of the EFCC over her role in the financial crime.

Recall that the Ministry’s previous administration headed by, Dr. Sadiya Umar Farouq, was also embroiled in multiple allegations of mismanagement, lack of accountability, and transparency with respect to the disbursement of government intervention funds meant for School Feeding, Conditional Cash Transfer, and N-Power.
