Nigerian minister’s residence on fire

The private residence of the Minister of State for the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Dr Mariya Mahmoud, was on Sunday gutted by fire.

The outbreak started at the residence in No. 9, Justice Roseline Ukeji Close, highbrow area of Asokoro in Abuja in the afternoon.

Firefighters reportedly failed to respond to the incident early enough, worsening the situation.

The minister’s media aide Austine Elemue, confirmed the incident.

He said the cause of the fire outbreak was being investigated.
