The Federal Government of Nigeria has halted the evaluation and accreditation of degree certificates obtained from Benin Republic and Togo.

This decision was revealed in a statement dated Tuesday, January 2, signed by Augustina Obilor-Duru on behalf of the Director of Press and Public Relations at the Federal Ministry of Education.

The suspension is coming on the heels of an investigative report by the Daily Nigerian Newspaper.

The report shed light on how Nigerian students acquired fake certificates from institutions in some West African countries, only to later undergo screening and evaluation for the NYSC scheme.

“some Nigerians deploy nefarious means and unconscionable methods to get a Degree with the end objective of getting graduate job opportunities for which they are not qualified”.
