The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has declared Governor Biodun Oyebanji of the All Progressives Congress (APC) winner of the Ekiti State governorship election after polling 319,224 votes across the state’s 16 local government areas.
With the victory, Oyebanji has been re-elected for a second term, defeating Oluyede, Bejide and other candidates in Saturday’s governorship election.
The Chief Returning Officer, Prof. Adenike Oladiji, announced the result early Sunday, stating that Oyebanji satisfied all constitutional requirements and secured the highest number of valid votes cast.
“I, Professor Adenike Oladiji, hereby certify that I am the Returning Officer for the Ekiti State Governorship Election held on June 20, 2026, and that the election was conducted in compliance with the provisions of the law,” she said.
“Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji of the All Progressives Congress, having satisfied the requirements of the law and scored the highest number of valid votes cast, is hereby declared the winner and returned elected.”
According to the final results, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate, Oluwole Oluyede, polled 40,545 votes, while the African Democratic Congress (ADC) candidate, Dare Bejide, secured 12,872 votes.
