A judge of the Federal High Court in Kano, Justice Mohammed Nasir Yunusa, has died after reportedly collapsing at his residence.
According to sources, the judge slumped in his living room on Thursday evening and was rushed to a hospital, where he was confirmed dead by medical personnel.
The Director of Information of the Federal High Court of Nigeria, Catherine Oby Christopher, confirmed the development, stating that Justice Yunusa died at the State Medical Centre in Kano.
He was buried on Friday in accordance with Islamic rites.
Justice Yunusa was known for handling several high-profile cases, including matters arising from the 2023 general elections.
One notable case involved the Labour Party candidacy dispute in Kano and Abia States, where he ruled that the court lacked jurisdiction to revoke certificates of return issued to Labour Party candidates outside parties before the court.
