Former APC Deputy Governorship Candidate Joins Protest

Former Deputy Governorship Candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Delta State, Rt. Hon. Friday Osanebi, has publicly endorsed the upcoming “Light Up Ndokwa” protest scheduled for Monday, June 16, 2025.

In a statement made in Asaba, Osanebi said the protest is a necessary and timely step to State the long-standing lack of electricity in Ndokwa communities, particularly Kwale.

He described the power situation as deeply troubling, noting that despite the region’s contributions to Nigeria’s economy, it still suffers from being disconnected from the national power grid.

He explained that people in Kwale have been forced to rely on costly alternatives just to power their homes, which he called unjust.

Osanebi made it clear that his support is not politically motivated, but rather a show of genuine concern for the welfare of his people.

He stated that in the current political climate where Delta State is controlled by one party, anyone who refuses to support the call for electricity in Ndokwa is acting against the interests of the region.

He also cautioned critics who offer no solutions but try to undermine the protest, urging them to either support the movement or stay out of the way.

Finally, he called on the protest organisers to ensure the demonstration remains peaceful and legal, focusing solely on pressing the government to act and provide electricity to the neglected Ndokwa communities.
