Ebonyi State Governor, Francis Nwifuru, has sacked the Commissioner for Works, Engr. Stanley Lebechi Mbam, from office with immediate effect.
The decision was announced on Saturday in a public service statement issued by the Chief Press Secretary to the governor, Monday Uzor.
Following the directive, Mbam was ordered to hand over all government property in his possession to the Secretary to the State Government.
The former commissioner was also directed to return his official vehicle and transfer the affairs of the Ministry of Works to the Permanent Secretary of the ministry.
The Permanent Secretary will oversee the ministry pending further instructions from the state government.
The state government did not give a specific reason for Mbam’s removal in the announcement.
The development comes several months after the commissioner was suspended by Governor Nwifuru.
In February 2026, Mbam was suspended alongside the Commissioner for Infrastructure Development for Concession, Engr. Ogbonnaya Obasi-Abara, over alleged dereliction of duty.
