Tinubu removes JAMB registrar, appoints replacement

President Bola Tinubu has approved the appointment of Professor Segun Aina as the new Registrar of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB).

The appointment means Professor Aina will succeed Is-haq Oloyede, whose second term in office is expected to end on July 31, 2026.

According to a State House statement, Professor Aina is a computer engineering expert with strong background in digital systems, examination technology, and public sector reforms.

He is currently a professor at Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife.

He studied Computer Systems Engineering at the University of Kent and later obtained higher degrees in Internet Computing, Network Security, and Digital Signal Processing in the United Kingdom.

He also attended the Senior Management Programme at Lagos Business School.

Aina began his early professional exposure at JAMB during his National Youth Service year, where he gained experience in admissions processes and data systems used in examinations.

Over the years, he has worked as a consultant to examination bodies such as NECO and NABTEB, as well as education ministries across different states, focusing on digital systems and examination integrity.

He is a member of several professional organisations, including COREN, NSE, IEEE, and IET.

The Presidency stated that Aina is expected to build on the reforms already carried out in JAMB and further improve its digital operations and efficiency after assuming office.

I wish the new registrar takes note of the rubbish policies affecting prospective JAMBITES. This Monopoly of JAMB Registration center in the name of curbing errors is a serious scam. Candidates risk their lives, spend money, waste time traveling far for Registration… this is a serious matter.

Whereas there are Cyber Cafes with more experience people to do all these job accurately for candidates.
